Gotalift respects each individual's right to personal privacy. We will collect and use information through our website only in the ways disclosed in this statement. This statement applies solely to information collected at the gotalift.com website.

Part I. Information Collection

Gotalift collects information through our website at several points. We collect the following information about primary visitors: IP address of users, referrer links, web browser type and version info, search queries, email addresses and ride posting information which our users may voluntarily provide. Gotalift.com does not actively market to children, and we never knowingly ask a child under 13 to divulge personal information.

We may also collect and aggregate location information, for example city and state provided in search queries, so as to gather demographic data on the geographic location of our users which may later be provided to third parties. This information will only be provided in the aggregate, and will not be linked with any personally identifiable information or to any IP addresses.

We collect this information through server logs, search queries, and user registrations and postings directly on the website.

We may choose to employ cookies. A cookie is a small text file that our Web server places on a user's computer hard drive to be a unique identifier. Cookies may be used to provide services to our users to make it easier to automate search queries. An example of such a use is to provide a search history capability, in which case the user's search query may be stored and retrieved at a later time based on a unique identifier stored in a cookie on the user's computer or mobile device.

We may choose to deploy banner advertising. Banner advertising appearing on our Web site may collect such information as the user's IP address which is necessary to deliver advertising content. We may also use location-based information retrieved from search queries in order to provide targeted advertising, also known as geo-targeted advertising.

Part II. Information Usage

Registered users may receive announcements from us periodically such as an email newsletter. The user must opt-in in order to receive these emails, and we will not send users a newsletter unless they have opted in. We will never sell or give away a user's email address to any third party, except in those cases required by law such as a court-ordered subpoena, or in the case where our company changes ownership.

In the case of change of ownership, we will provide notice to all of our registered users by way of email and at that time users will have the option to unregister, which will purge the user's email address from our database.

At any time, a registered user may choose to either opt-out or opt-in to receiving our email newsletter. Also, at any time, a registered user may choose to unregister from our site, in which case the user's account info, including email address, will be purged from our database.

We may share ride posting information with third parties. This information may include origin and destination locations, date and time of postings, and additional info provided by the user. This information will not include the user's IP address, browser type, or personal email address unless the user specifically allows, by marking a check box, the release of his or her email address or other personal identifying information to third parties at the time of posting.

It is the responsibility of the user to not provide specific personally identifying information which they do not want to be displayed or shared with third parties, for example a user's home address, at the time of posting. It is recommended that users choose to enter only general location info, such as that of a cross street or nearby location, instead of a user's exact home address. Any other information, such as personal phone number or email address which is provided as part of a ride posting, may be displayed on the website for anyone to see and may be provided to third parties. Please be careful in what information that you provide. Also please be advised that any information provided on ride posts or blogs on our site may become public knowledge.

We offer links to other Web sites. We cannot vouch for the accuracy of ride postings either by our users, or those on third party websites. We encourage you to read the privacy policies on any third party websites as their standards may differ from ours.

If our policy on information collection and use changes, we will update the published date near the title of this document. We will not otherwise give notice of any change of this policy, although we may choose to do so through email to our registered users. It is the user's responsibility to check this privacy policy page for any updates.

Part III. Access to Information

Gotalift cannot verify the accuracy of information gathered from third parties, nor can we verify any information that our users provide. User may only modify or delete information which they have directly provided from within the gotalift.com website by logging into their account. Any information provided by third party websites may only be modified or removed directly from those third party websites. Any changes made on third party websites will not immediately result in changes made on gotalift.com, and may take several hours for the changes to take effect.
